　　陈豪在北京的ABC美国公司工作，他在走廊上遇到了美国同事Amy。

　　(Office ambience)

　　A：Hi, Chen Hao, you look especially nice today.Is that a new suit you are wearing?

　　C：是啊，我上星期买的，拿去改了一下，昨天取回来的。

　　A：Is there a special event or did you think it wastime to upgrade your wardrobe because of yourjob promotion?

　　C：二者都有点儿。我现在经常接触高层次的客户，发现他们的穿着好像要更正式一些。

　　A：That was a smart move on your part. It is always good to imitate the way the highestlevel executives dress.

　　C：跟他们在一起，光穿一件西装上衣就会觉得很不自在。

　　A：We Americans have a saying about business attire: "Dress for the job you want, not thejob you have."

　　C：这么说，如果我想当公司老板，就得穿得象老板一样喽?

　　A：That's right. You have the idea. Would you mind if I pointed out a few things you coulddo to improve your look even more?

　　C：我当然不会介意，你的意见我永远欢迎。

　　A：I am short on time right now so could we talk over lunch?

　　C：好，那我们一起吃午饭。

　　陈豪和Amy一起吃午饭时间。

　　C：Amy, 我们刚才说到职业着装。

　　A：You did a good job selecting the suit. That shade of gray is professional looking. Stickto grays, dark blues and charcoal. Blacks and browns are not good choices for a business suit.

　　C：要选择灰色、深兰色和炭灰色，不要选择黑色和棕色。还有吗?

　　A：I am concerned about the length of your pants. The tailor seems to have gotten themtoo short when he hemmed them.

　　C：你觉得这条裤子改得太短了吗?

　　A：Unfortunately, they just barely come to your ankles. The hem of your pants should reston the top of your foot with a slight break.

　　C：还有吗?

　　A：It's your shoes.

　　C：我的鞋怎么了?这种船鞋不用系鞋带，既方便又舒服。

　　A：They are a bit too casual for your suit. When you wear a business suit, your need adressier shoe.

　　C：那得什么样的鞋才够正式呢?

　　A：A lace-up shoe is the most conservative and coordinates well with traditionalbusiness attire.

　　C：原来还是要系带儿的鞋。

　　A：One final word is to make sure that your shoes and your belt match.

　　C：幸好我升职的时候工资也一起涨了，看来我的衣柜要重新换过才行。

　　A：The good news about that is that you only need a few pieces and when you buy suitsand accessories that are top quality and conservative in style, they will last a long time.
